Have you ever done something and then looked back and thought, “What was I thinking?” only to realize you weren’t thinking at all? I’m not talking about something silly like locking your keys in the car. I’m talking about behaviors that you exhibit over a period of time as though you’re stuck in a constant state of stupid.
Looking back over my life I realize I was stuck in that constant state of stupid for most of my young adult life and have been known to have a couple of relapses in later years. Today, as I reflect over some of the events of my life I am simply amazed by the Father’s infinite mercy and grace that has so graciously and abundantly been extended to me. For that, I can never thank my Father enough.
Though I eventually managed to get control of my erratic behavior; it wasn’t until I began the journey of writing The Pursuit of Purpose that I began to understand that some of these behaviors of my young adult life were a desperate cry for someone to love and accept me. These behaviors are usually a symptom of something that lies beneath the surface that perhaps we ourselves fail to realize or understand. It wasn’t until I turned to my Lord and Saviour that I found the love and healing that I so desperately sought.
Jesus said in Mark 9:23, “….if thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth”. If someone you love is exhibiting behaviors that just don’t make sense, never lose hope for them; just continue to believe. Remembering where I once was and realizing where He has brought me encourages me to always believe and never lose hope.
If you are going through a situation or circumstances in life that you just can’t understand, I would like to encourage you to spend some time in the Word and in prayer with your heavenly Father. He loves you so much more than your heart or mind can begin to comprehend. Romans 8:37-39 tells us “No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Your heavenly Father is there to hold you, protect you, and guide you! He there, waiting! Turn to Him!
